“Das Weisse Rössl" (The White Horse Inn) on Lake Wolfgangsee is one of the most famous and legendary hotels in Austria. The hotel is actually nine inter-connected buildings which have evolved over the years, each with its own history, charm and character.
The Austrian Gault Millau Gourmet Guide has awarded the cuisine at the White Horse Inn with 1 toque (chef’s hat emblem) and 14 points. The culinary weeks in the White Horse Inn (from “Spring Wine” to “Truffle Joy” in Advent) are highly praised by gourmets and connoisseurs. Our cellar with over 8,000 well chosen wines is one of the most well-stocked in Austria. We are especially proud of the fact that we only serve Austrian wine. “Sporty and Active” - it doesn’t matter if it’s hiking, running, Nordic walking or playing golf, St. Wolfgang has something for everyone. From the east or north
Leave the Westautobahn (A1) at Regau and then take the B145 to Gmunden and drive along the shores of Lake Traunsee towards Bad Ischl. There, follow the signs towards Salzburg and St. Wolfgang on the B158 through the Kaiserpark Tunnel to Strobl, where you turn right towards St. Wolfgang.
You will soon see the lake and, as a guest of the Weisses Rössl hotel, you can drive straight on past the tunnel and into the pedestrian zone. In the village, turn left before the church onto the market square.
From the south
Cross the Pötschenpass on the B145 towards Bad Ischl and drive through the Kaiserpark tunnel on the B158 towards St. Wolfgang.
You will soon see the lake and, as a hotel guest of the Weisses Rössl, you can drive straight on past the tunnel into the pedestrian zone.
In the town, turn left before the church onto the market square.
From the west
Leave the A1 Westautobahn motorway at Thalgau and take the L117 to Hof, where you turn left onto the B158 towards Wolfgangsee. At St. Gilgen you reach Lake Wolfgangsee and turn off at Strobl in the direction of St. Wolfgang.
You will soon recognise the lake and, as a hotel guest of the Weisses Rössl, you can drive past the tunnel and straight on into the pedestrian zone.
In the village, turn left before the church onto the market square.
