The Naturfreunde Ebensee were founded in 1909 and is therefore the oldest local group in the Salzkammergut.
The Ebensee local group looks after the two mountain huts Hochkogelhaus and Mittereckerstüberl. They also look after a material cable car from Niedermitterecker - Hochkogel and various hiking trails.
