Prisoners were held captive in the house's basement in earlier times.
The prison and ancillary rooms were renovated and staged as a museum in 2020. The name for the museum #ploetzhof is a further development of the Plötzhaus, which was named after the waterfall "Plötz". The #ploetzhof museum is a fascinating insight into the world of yesteryear. What was life like at that time, how was a convict fared, how was a court hearing conducted and what punishments could be expected. The second part of the museum is dedicated to the history and development of Hof bei Salzburg.
In 2024, a bridge over the Baderbach was installed under the #ploetzhof as part of the LEADER Project II in order to create a picturesque connection from the impressive old prison to the Baderbachmühle. This now enables visitors to explore three points of interest (POIs), namely the #ploetzhof, the mill and the waterfall, on a walk in the shortest possible time.
The museum can be easily reached on a hike from the center of Hof, the Fuschlseehiking path or from the P&R parking place. Further information can be found on the website or by calling the Fuschlseeregion tourist office at 06226 / 8384-21.
